Flagship Transaction Perspective Service Enhanced; Brand New Red Alert Transaction Service Launched

SAN MATEO, Calif., — July 8, 2003 — Keynote Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN), the global leader in Web performance management services, today announced Transaction Perspective 5.0, a significantly enhanced version of its industry-leading Web transaction measurement and benchmarking service used by Fortune 1000 companies for optimizing end user experience. Keynote also announced Red Alert Performance Tracker (RAPT), an extremely cost effective, self-service Web performance monitoring service for budget conscious IT operations users.

The simultaneous announcement of the two new Web performance management services underscores both Keynote’s technology and brand leadership. The new services address the evolving needs among enterprise customers for which accurate and representative Web performance measurement, trending and analysis help ensure the quality of service of e-businesses, and high frequency, cost-effective monitoring of all Web applications is critical to maintaining IT service levels.

Transaction Perspective 5.0 is designed to deliver the most advanced outsourced service for measuring and benchmarking critical ‘money path’ transactions from 50 cities worldwide. It’s the ideal solution for trending and analysis of the true end-user performance experience and for building industry-appropriate service level agreements (SLAs) with e-business service providers. It features ‘true to life’ representation from the end user perspective of today’s most advanced and sophisticated Web transactions (such as Web services), high fidelity Internet Explorer 6.0 browser support, and state-of-the art multi-backbone alarms and reporting. Transaction Perspective 5.0 continues to deliver on its customer promise to deliver the richest and most representative view of true end user experience over time.

Performance Tracker is designed to deliver the most cost-effective and fully outsourced solution for budget-conscious operations departments which are interested in monitoring the health and availability of a high number of mission critical web applications. Performance Tracker monitors transaction performance at frequent intervals from multiple cities worldwide and offers near real time ‘trouble’ alerting when problems do occur. It is specifically designed to meet the demanding needs of operations-focused organizations for geographically monitoring, in real time, a wide variety of Web transactions, but where backbone representation and browser fidelity are less critical requirements than monitoring frequency and the overall cost of the service.

While designed to meet diverse user needs, Transaction Perspective 5.0 and Performance Tracker feature a common transaction script recorder (see separate section below), and leverage Keynote’s global infrastructure of measurement computers, the world’s largest. The two services add to Keynote’s growing portfolio of completely hassle-free Web performance measurement, monitoring, testing and management services.

“Our enhanced flagship Transaction Perspective 5.0 service is the ideal solution for e-business analysts, IT managers and line of business owners requiring the richest solution for benchmarking, measuring, analyzing and improving the performance of critical e-business applications–especially the ‘money path’ transactions,” said Arnold Waldstein, vice president of marketing and business development for Keynote. “At the same time, our new Red Alert Performance Tracker service is the perfect answer for budget-conscious operations departments interested in an application monitoring service that minimizes their organization’s total cost of ownership.”

New Common Transaction Script Recorder

Transaction Perspective 5.0 and Red Alert Performance Tracker (RAPT) include a new common Web transaction script recorder that provides a single user interface, or ‘look and feel,’ for recording the individual pages of a transaction and then uploading that transaction to Keynote’s global infrastructure of measurement computers.

A common recorder allows users to become familiar with one easy-to-use user interface for all script development, whether for measurement, monitoring or load testing. For instance, a script initially developed for load testing using Keynote Test Perspective can be redeployed for ongoing site monitoring using Red Alert Performance Tracker or Transaction Perspective.

And to allow for the easy creation of scripts that support advanced and ‘intelligence-based’ Web transactions, the common recorder now offers enhanced support for: customized conditionals, required and error text validations, Boolean logic for conditionals, dynamic dates management for script resiliency (also known as “DHTML”) and digital certificates for client authentication.

Pricing and Availability

Transaction Perspective 5.0 is priced at $1,295.00 per month (5 pages/10 cities), and will be available beginning August 15. Red Alert Performance Tracker (RAPT) starts at $50 per month for monitoring a single page from 4 cities. There is an additional one-time set-up fee of $19.95. RAPT is available beginning July 2.
